The Skills for Youth Employment (SkYE) Programme is inviting another round of applications from registered organisations (public, non-government, private, not for profit) to provide grant funded technical, vocational education and training (TVET) to disadvantaged young women and men aged 15-30. Partnerships are encouraged, especially with employer organisations.
Organisations must:
- Complete training by 31 December 2021 – short or medium-term training
- Ensure that training leads to National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) or Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) preferably at Level 2 or above (or internationally recognised equivalent).
- Incorporate soft skills in training
- Be financially stable with organisational bank accounts and robust financial management systems
This RFA focuses on:
- young women, especially in traditionally male dominated sectors
- young people with disability (PWDs)
- promoting climate resilience
- innovative approaches to training to promote access and improve quality, e.g. flexible timetabling, adaptive use of buildings and resources (including IT), adaptations of the curriculum.
Grants will cover a maximum of 85% of total training project costs with a minimum 15% contribution sourced from training providers and partners. The grant may cover, but not be limited to, the following areas:
- direct costs for delivering training: trainers, training materials and manuals, consumable materials, small tools and training equipment
- provision to facilitate trainee participation and include those challenged by disability, e.g. modest stipends for meals, transport and child-care
- job placement support and tracking
- fees charged by the certificating body
